True Success Begins With a Holistic Assessment

Blog #268

In last week’s blog, I explored how so many of us have lost control of our success-defining narratives. Becoming self-aware of this and having a desire to proactively take control of your life is the first step to discovering your success on your terms. When people take that most critical step towards living life on their terms, I say, “Congratulations”.

But, the usual response I receive is, “Okay, great. Now what?”

Over the next few blogs, I will help guide you in determining how to identify and gain control of your success narratives. This begins with assessing where you are today, where you want to go tomorrow, and how to get there.

As is the case with any journey, the first step is having the desire to go on that journey. The second step is to holistically determine your starting point and which areas in your life are opportunities for growth.

I can hear some people saying, “Okay, Kluver, you’re going into the hippy voodoo weeds again. How the heck does this impact my ability to run my business, lead my team, or navigate challenges?” I would contend, everything. The reality is you could be a great business leader and manager, but if you are experiencing challenges outside of work, such as family, health, or finances, these factors will negatively impact your work life. In the same respect, if work is a stressful mess, it will affect other areas of your life.

To truly be your best self and an optimal leader, you need to take an all-encompassing, approach. To help leaders evaluate where they stand on a holistic level, I have created a tool called “The Life Balance Wheel”. This is an electronic assessment that takes about six minutes and provides users with immediate visual results. There are four quadrants with 15 questions in each quadrant; each quadrant is then broken down into three sections. They are as follows:

  • Professional
    • Environment
    • Compensation
    • Job Satisfaction
  • Resources
    • Time
    • Treasure (Money and Stuff)
    • Talent (Skills)
  • Health
    • Physical
    • Mental
    • Spiritual
  • Relationships
    • Partner
    • Family
    • Friends

The questions are written in such a way that the intention is for you to answer how you feel about each question based on your expectations or beliefs, not anyone else’s. The overall intention is to help you evaluate where you are today, based on your own personal definition of success.

When I take senior leader through the “Life on Your Terms” program we start with this holistic assessment. You can have access to an automated version. Please send me an email (k@entadv.com) and I will reply with a link. There is no charge, obligation, or expectation.  This tool can also be found in my books or on my website for a fee of about $200. My genuine intention is to help guide you to living and thriving in life on your terms and this tool is the starting point.

In upcoming blog posts, we will begin addressing what to do once you have your Balance Wheel results and what the next steps will look like.

Are you a leader who in not living life on your terms? Are you interested in learning how to rediscover it starting with a holistic assessment? We can help with that! Contact us today to find out more.

Keep Smiling,

Kris
